SW:TOR - Jedi Knight - End Mission

The end mission only reinforces that Jedi Knight is *the* light side story. I think Sith Warrior, which is also its opposite class in terms of gameplay, is *the* dark side story but it's not quite as obvious - it becomes more so when you stop to think about it and realise that Imp Agent, no matter how cool, is not a Star Wars story, but it feels a lot less emphasised than the way they emphasise Jedi Knight over on the Republic side.

I can see why some people are annoyed that you're forced to take T7, I mean they're wrong, but I can see why. At least the game explains the reason why it has to be T7 and the image of one man and his droid is pretty much hardwired into the soul of every Star Wars fan. He even looks like R2-D2!!! (There was this moment, just after the end fight, where the "companion falls on the ground" bug happened, and because I'd found the antique droid parts in the bonus quest I was worried that something had happened to T7 and I wasn't being given the option to fix it. T7 must survive!)

The big bit at the end where you have to decide whether to kill the Emperor or capture him, that was fascinating, because like, even the Jedi who thinks capturing him is better has this moment where he thinks "if I don't kill him, he's only going to escape and do this again", and it's temptation, and gloriously fear leads to the dark side etc. It's nice in a character who doesn't get that sort of light and shade often.

It did lead me to trying to think what my other characters would do in that situation. It was easy for 6 of them.

Capture - Trooper, Jedi Sage
Kill - Sith Inquisitor (totally), bounty hunter (literally her job), imp agent (at any point in the timeline) and smuggler, because the smuggler knows it's not worth the risk of the Emperor escaping, as he undoubtedly will.

Also kill is Sith Warrior, because although yes, he's the Emperor's Wrath, if you put the duty vs his life/Vette's life, duty will lose and he's terrifyingly ambitious. Which is one of his better traits.

Definitely a fun mission.
