WIP List 2018
Which is late, because this year, and for the foreseeable future, everything is late.
Modern day criminal AU - "They joke that they can tell how Alex is doing by how far he's willing to let Peter go." - Halp, it's 17k words and I've still got 2 and a half sections left to write.
The other, non-criminal, modern day AU - "He was always in some business meeting or other."
Delayed lgbtfest fic, which is about one paragraph from being finished. - "Any attempt at reaching out would be met with ridicule at best; another incident like the one where Giles was turned into a Fyarl demon at worst." Addendum, 3 paragraphs, 2 of which are now written.
Overdue comment_fic, where I fell in love with the idea, even if I fear I cannot make it work. - "Buffy is sooo doomed."
The Ethan/Giles fic of long-standing stuckedness - "There was a rasp to Ethan's voice when he spoke again, but he didn't seem to have learnt his lesson because he started mouthing off again."
Yet more delayed lgbtfest fic - "He wanted Buffy to experience all that life has to offer and if that meant a little hypocritical lying, well he could live with that." - is probably finished but lacks that killer moment.
EleventyandtheMaster - "He wants to know if it's him, or another regeneration, or if it's this Master or another of him, and whether he's supposed to stop it or help him, or what's going on." - Which I still love but is horribly stuck. Also help! I am two doctors and many companions late.
Before The Impossible Planet - "Which was often because even though Zach did what you were supposed to in the drills, Scooti was new to this, Ben and Ida were incapable of following orders and Dani dithered. It was his natural state." Stuck
River/Doctor fic, which I might just have unstuck - "And Jim-Bob is terribly bitter about it."
Delayed lgbtfest fic - "The Corsair was still in his second body when the Doctor first knew him."
Headmistress - "Albus had recommended keeping Phineus Nigellus's portrait, as, he'd said, he gave good advice, and served as a corrective to their more Gryffindor tendencies." - Minerva and the portraits round her. Stuck!
Come to Poppy - "Which it wasn't, she'd been school nurse at Hogwarts for far too long to be startled by anything." - From the OPI challenge thing
Teddy Lupin fic - "He recognised someone flirting with him, even with having been married for nearly fifteen years." - which has turned into George Weasley fic when I wasn't paying attention.
Iron Man:
Much delayed lgbtfest fic - "Anyway, what's the point in being Tony Stark if I can't do the things I want to do."
Thor:
Stuck post-Avengers Assemble fic - "If the forces that bedevilled Loki had been anything that Thor could see, he would have fought them but beating back the invisible was beyond him."
First Thor film fic that is, you guessed it, stuck - "Foolish but honest, he treated her as a lady of her station and her achievements warranted, and asked for no special kindnesses beyond her friendship."
Being Human:
Weird pilot/series mash-up fic - "They will always have been five days, three hours and twenty eight minutes too late." This was the fic in greatest danger of being guillotined, or at least moved over into the never going to be finished pile, and I'm so glad I think I might have figured out the way round the speed bump.
Chuck:
Highly AU fic - "You were out. *We* were out. Why would you go back?" - still stuck. There's a scene that I have no idea how to write, that's very necessary.
GI Joe:
Delayed lgbtfest fic - "Heavy Duty was not looking impressed, even less than usual." - Stuck
Gundam Wing:
Delayed, off prompt, Gundam Wing fic lgbtfest fic - "Of course Noin knew about them, but Lucrezia knowing is like his shadow knowing." If I knew where this was going, it might get there quicker. (Edited - thanks to this I think I may have worked it out)
Hamlet:
Delayed lgbtfest fic - "Always have. Love should be had." Hamlet's face creased, pink with chagrin. "Now it's my turn for an unfortunate, excellent phrase."
Heinz Mayonnaise advert:
Heinz Mayonnaise advert - "Artie was trying to play the gracious host, as though he just didn't get that the reason Angelo came over was to help him, not to take up more of his time." - Stuck due to logistics
The Hobbit:
Castle AU - "Oakenshield is the name I earnt. It’s mine.” Yes, re-writing the section that I felt was repetitive worked. I've still not caught up to where I was (because the second half of the repetitive section is needed much later on) but there is definite progress.
Indiana Jones:
Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull fic - "He listened to her, thought for a moment and said, "nonsense, dear heart, take the job. You'd only be up there for the summer season, and it's too hot to dig down here then. Summer in the US, winter down here, sounds like an equitable solution.” - Stuck, but should be unstickable relatively easily.
James Bond:
Untitled Die Another Day fic - "Bond's only thought was of escape." - Also hampered by logistics.
Last of the Summer Wine:
Delayed lgbtfest fic - "He hadn't counted on the female of the species. They seemed to be determined. And ferocious."
Miss Marple:
Much delayed awesomeladiesfest fic - "Jane Marple sees all this, she confirms it through years of watching." - Stuck
The Mummy 3:
Untitled fic - "Who the hell has friends called Mad Dog anyway? Other than his Dad." - Much delayed lgbtfest fic, which sort of unstuck itself after and accidental rewatch but will require another rewatch to unstick from where its stuck now and I have lost my DVD of it again.
The Shadow Line:
One annoyingly stuck fic - "I know what you are, Rattalack. I know how you work." - annoying because the opening is dynamite.
Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy:
Untitled TTSS fic - "There were a few close calls, they were inevitable, the work was dangerous." which is stuck mid WWII.
Yes, Prime Minister:
Stuck lgbtfest fic - ""Quite correct, Bernard." That was Sir Humphrey." Stuck because I want to get the voices right, damn it, and it is difficult.
Sherlock:
Adler lgbtfest fic - "She finds herself imagining what different implements would sound like against his skin, how they would feel, how it would feel."
Avoidance - "Only without saying vital words like, 'I'm sorry', because Holmes's don't apologise." - My post-Reichenbach Falls fic, which is stuck because I still haven't rewatched Season 2.
Mycroft's Schooldays - "Spare me the lecture, Mycroft, I've had it from the Housemaster and Mr. Jenkins already." - Stuck
Sherlock Holmes (Books):
Delayed lgbtfest fic - "In my record of Holmes's cases, I have often remarked upon his interest in chemistry, and his practical demonstration of the same." - Which needs me to find my copy of Y: the Descent of Man.
Much delayed lgbtfest fic - "It takes them out of themselves, it gives people something to do, something better than fear or terror."
Even more delayed pornbattle Jack/Owen fic, which is hamstrung by Owen - "However, due to circumstances, and occasionally altered states of mind, he’s less sure of when he came across them, and whether the necessary equipment is in the archive or in his memories alone."
Delayed lgbtfest fic - "Their reaction to Lisa had been bad enough."
Opera's much delayed birthday fic - "Chris went into a whole-body blush, he couldn’t help it, it was the sheer amount of desire in William’s voice."
All These Places I Remember - "Now, there wasn't that, and he wasn't going to complain about having made it." Is two good paragraphs away from being done. The trouble is I have no idea what's going on in those paragraphs, except in the loosest sense.
Swings and Roundabouts - "I don't, because that would involve taking my hands off Randy." Which is now moving along nicely.
Jamie Noble fic - "He's gonna win to show Layla how much he loves her, and how much better a man he is than Regal." - Because this storyline worked it's silly magic on me at the time.
ODB + Tara fic - "It's not flirting, it's being friendly, and no-one she hugs ever takes it as being anything else."
All Our Fathers (or Orton is a Jerk, the fic) - "And part of it was that, no matter what else you were doing at the time, was the constant questions about when you'd be joining the family business." - Stuck, which is probably just as well.
Groundhog Day, Again - "It wasn’t like it was a hardship." - which has a title now but remains stuck
The second Morgan/Crimson fic - "He's been a fighter in a place with no referees, and he will not lose this." - Which I fear may never be finished.
The first Morgan/Crimson fic, which I also fear will never be finished, which is a shame because bits of it are good. - "It was healthy competition, they were going to push each other to excellence."
50 Kinky Ways fic (which are stuck, cracky or possibly the most cracktastic thing I have ever written. I will let you guess which is which.)
6 - Restraints - "He could feel her relaxing into his fingers, tension melting away along with her uncertainty." (Orton/Stacy Kiebler)
10 - Candle Wax - "He remembers all the steps, clearly, but he's not sure how they lead here." (Orton/Undertaker)
32 - Branding - "No, "mission: get Kane's hands on him" was going to take delicate planning. Which Randy knew wasn't his strong point." (Orton/Kane)
Much delayed lgbtfest fic - "But she came back, same as they all did, because shitty as it was, it was their place."
Angel/Mystique fic, which is annoyingly stuck, because it will be glorious - "Instead Angel curled her fingers back in Mystique's hair, and said, "hey, hey, it's not a problem. We're practising, right."
Wolverine:Origins/Original Trilogy canon-welding fic - "Tina had no idea what had happened since the last time she'd met him, but there was something about the look in Remy's eyes." Even at the speed I write, it might be out before the alleged Gambit film.
In summary, 0 fics finished, 0 moved into the "never going to be finished" folder and 3 unstuck. The number of finished ones (and moved ones) is less than normal but I'm really glad that I think I might have found a way to move the unstuck ones forward. I mean, I know those are famous last words but ...
Modern day criminal AU - "They joke that they can tell how Alex is doing by how far he's willing to let Peter go." - Halp, it's 17k words and I've still got 2 and a half sections left to write.
