In which there is rugby, Hugh Jackman and Wrestling
Bradford won. Bah! And the Leeds players looked so upset. Mainly because the referee was playing for Bradford. And before anyone asks, I am neither a Bradford nor a Leeds fan.
Poor Keith Senior looked wrecked, Adamson was playing with a broken cheekbone, and two plates in his jaw (even the commentator said that it was stupidity beyond the call of duty), and poor Kevin Sinfield (known as the baby-Captain since he is only 21) was crying.
And those Bradford bullies smacked the heck out of Rob Burrows (who is really small), and they hurt Wayne MacDondald, which takes some doing since he's 6'7" and tough, Aussie tough.
Rugby's the only sport where I love all the commentators, because normally it's Ray French (who was my Uncle's A-Level english teacher) and Jonathan Davies, who knows more about rugby than is entirely healthy and conveys both this and his love for the sport without sounding pompous. He's lovely.
And the pundits were Denis Betts, who's so good I forgive him for having played for Wigan, and Ian Millward, who is Saint's coach, but beyond that makes a lot of sense when he talks.
Hugh Jackman was on Parkinson. So I watched that. And he had extensions in for his next role, which made him look far too much like Marti Pellow for comfort.
He was lovely. Laid-back, amusing, you know, the Aussie stereotype. Apparently having extensions in is like having your pubic hair pulled at for 6 hours.
And he can sing. And yes, he's lovely.
But and this was a bonus, there was 100 Greatest Romantic films thing done by the American Film Institute, and he was one of the talking heads on the programme (so were Aaron Sorkin, Carrie Fisher, Maureen O'Hara (who is desicating nicely), and tonnes of other really cool people)
Just the look on his face when he was talking about films. There is a guy who loves a good film (and more importantly a good Gene Kelly film)
Oh yeah and
Missed the first match but I loved the rest of it. There was one ace match in Chavo v Shelton Benjamin, and three other good ones, Benoit v Nunzio, Crash v Rey and A-Train v Lesnar, plus a good Big Show match. Even Piper v Rikishi did what it was supposed to do.
And the backstage segments were good, Tazz and Cole were on good form, and how f-ing good was John Cena.
Which leads to 2 questions-
1) Quite when did I start liking John Cena so much?
2) And Brock, since when do I feel like I want to protect the little (okay humungously large) darlin'?
I dance like Nidia, except with even less rhythm. Quite what was Dawn Marie doing to get completely censored? And Sable, Sable does wicked far too well.
I think I've figured out quite why the 'We lie, we cheat, we steal' bit annoys me more than the FBI bit. I think there are less people likely to view the FBI bit as being a reflection on things.
This bit isn't cut-lined because I feel it is something I must say and comes with the traditional oops, sorry if I offend you disclaimer.
First, let me say I love America. However things like Mr. America are quite why large chunks of people I know don't. One, why the picture of the Berlin Wall falling down? And two, dear WWE please try not using Martin Luther King, it tarnishes the speech somewhat.
And yet I love Le Resistance, even with it's rather wonderful stereotypes. And the sound of marking out if/when they appear will be me. Partly I think it's because they're being pushed as heels, partly because the vid promos are good. Just waiting for them to say 'hey, the Statue of Liberty was a French gift'.
