And even if they didn't, Orton would be there tomorrow night, knowing all of that, waiting for him. That's serious emotional repercussion--- I love you for writing it, even though it guilted me out. The entire last three paragraphs guilted me out. The image of Carlito stepping out of those clothes, choosing to walk naked down the hallway. GAH. Total loss of power there.
I always admire the little details/word choices you use to carry the story's premise. Randy is "Orton" in this, and there's a certain distance to surnames. And I loved the motivation you gave Carlito. No one wants to be a welsher, no one wants to face locker room shunning--- even if there was justification.
