Viewpoint: Why I loved Nemtsov - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-31692409

>>Despite the crowds who turned out to mourn Boris Nemtsov in Moscow on Sunday, it's 20 years since Russians have voted for liberal politicians in any numbers. These are dark days for Russians who espouse liberal values and a peaceful foreign policy - a mood captured in a tribute to Nemtsov by 88-year-old historian Prof Georgy Mirsky.

Here is a translation of his blog post on the website of the Ekho Moskvy radio station.<<

30 Days of Torchwood Meme - Day 13 - A piece of music you love from the series

THEY USED 'FIRE IN MY HEART' IN "SOMETHING BORROWED"!!!

And yes, the all-caps is required.

I love 'Fire in my Heart' by the Super Furry Animals anyway.

It is beautiful. Gruff Rhys is one of those musicians who write amazingly lyrical tunes, and this is one of his best (and one of their most accessible. SFA have a tendency towards weird.). It's on my top 50 of all time list.

I'm sitting down watching Torchwood one day, when suddenly this beautiful song that I love, by a band that I love, is played at the beginning of an episode where a pairing I like get married.

And then I squeed.

Also, given that the show is set in Cardiff, using a Welsh band for once was a nice touch.
