A few POTC thoughts that got lost in the general squeaking
Okay Johnny Depp's accent, other than the best way of describing it being drunk, was pretty darn cool. Especially when he was jumping across things and yelling in his accent.
Which brings me to the second point, the problem with Will Turner is the 'Han Solo' problem. In the Star Wars films, Luke was just plain old out-cooled by Han Solo. Will Turner just got plain old out-cooled by Captain Jack. Then again, anyone would be out-cooled by him so it's no biggie.
BTW I think there's something wrong with me. I see no campness in Captain Jack. I see exaggerated lunacy and some mightly crazy hand action but they merely point to general OTTness.
Elizabeth was quite cool also. Not too annoying, very good at both damsel in distress and damsel not in distress.
That monkey was evil.
There are no decent pictures of Norrington anywhere. (No change that, there are no pictures full stop.)
Would someone please dissuade me from wanting dreadlocks.
Oh yeah, and does anyone know what 'shiver me timbers' actually means?
I'm trying to recommend the film to my Mum using the idea that it's got the same sort of attitude as the Mummy films.
The boy that played Will Turner as a boy looks a lot more like I imagined Harry Potter than Daniel Radcliffe, because he was thin and had you know black-ish hair like Potter is supposed to have.
