Well, that was unpleasant

So my Ebay account got hacked (my own fault, that password has been broken some time ago, I just wasn't aware that it was my password for by Ebay account because the last time I used my Ebay account was ... 3 years ago). Don't worry, I caught it, despite it being linked to one of my less often used email accounts, because I was doing a vanity look for new kudos - never let them tell you that fanfic isn't useful for something.

It's all sorted, and I can't praise Ebay's customer service enough, but if you want to do me a favour, I'd double-check your Ebay accounts and get double-factor authentication enabled if you're cool with that. I am now very cool with it.

As I said, nothing bad has happened but it is a lousy way to spend a lunchtime.

Edit to add: nothing actually to do with the Livejournal posts. I've no doubt they've got the security of cottage cheese but I know it wasn't them. Have I Been Pwned? has given me a couple of likely suspects though.

Edit 2: Paypal's customer service less good. Still nothing bad has happened and every possible organisation has been informed.

So frustrating when something like that happens! Even when no harm is done it's a big mental load to get it all sorted and to try to think of where else might be vulnerable.
