Leavers' Dinner

Well it was last night. And it was rather good. It will be the last time I see a lot of people, but it did remind me that most of my absolutely favourite people have already left (plus two others weren't there. I'll have to call Chris tomorrow to see what's up.)

But yes in short.

Turned up, were fed Bucks Fizz (Champagne and Orange juice). Was the only girl in trousers but was also the only girl who didn't have problems with her top.

Looked quite cool, had several people complimenting me on my top (Chinese design on red - yeah, I wear red a lot, my name is for a very good reason.)

Dinner was decent, main topic of conversation was football, tennis or more particularly the hotness of Maria Sharapnova - imagine Kournikova but able to play tennis, music, and the absence of a friend who was supposed to be there.

And then the DJ played 'Heaven is a half-pipe' from there on in I knew it was going to be a good night.

Everyone looked really good. Boys were all in suits, and one boy was wearing a kilt (and before anyone asks, no I don't know if he was wearing anything underneath). Girls were all stunning. Have lots of photos.

The DJ was bad, the jazz band were lousy (I like actual jazz not old, old songs sung in a different key) but the band they'd hired were very good. Very, very good. And the lead singer was very attractive, very, very, very.

So thanks to them our year's big song is an oddly worded version of Beautiful Day by U2. It's very fitting, especially when you add in the words he sang not being the right ones.

Of course instead of leaving it there, the blasted DJ had to spin some more choons. Some were fun cheesy but some were bad dance tracks.

And he played 'Summer of 69' and 'Livin' on a Prayer' both of which are Nick, Dave, Sam and Chris sort of songs, and they had all either left to go to another 6th form, dropped out and gone to the Tech or weren't at the party.

But yes, lots of fun.
